Shape protection and/or layer properties prevent complete executio

'Shape protection and/or layer properties prevent complete execution of this
command'
I'm trying to delete a shape(cell) from a grid(group of table/box), and I
get above message.
I unlocked all shape's properties through 'format/protection' and still
cannot delete a shape.
I Can delete the whole grid(format/special identifies this as sheet.1) but
not individual cell(format/special identifies this as table.25).
I spent a whole day trying to figure out about how to this and about to give
up.
Is there anybody who had this problem before?
