Hello -- and HELP!

I am VERY new to visio. I have confused myself. In
looking over the application, I noticed that when you use
the generic page you have options for backgrounds and
shapes, borders, etc. I also noticed there were some good
examples of templates for your use. I am trying to put
together a process flow using a template in the system.

First Question: I want to use more shapes than just
squares and circles. How do I get the use of the shapes
that are offered on the generic opening page when using a
process flow template?

Second Question: I have been using the line instead of
the connector. How can I make the lines/shapes connect
now? And what is the benefit of them connecting?

THANK YOU !!!!!!!!

Using "File > Stencils > Open stencils" you'll see several folders full of
stencils with interesting shapes, general and specialized. Stencils will
appear in a green panel left of the drawing page. You can drag shapes from
a stencil onto the drawing page.

You can get a stencil of assorted connectors using
File > Stencils > Visio extras > Connectors
To connect, drag the end point of a connector until it snaps onto a control
point (one of the little x's) of a shape. One benefit is that when you move
shapes around the lines move along, always staying connected.
