"Shapes" do not print in Office 2007 Word - Vista running

Hi Guys

Shapes do not print using Office 2007 Word; I insert a shape > right click >
add text > save as doc1.docx > print. The shape does not print, the text
does.

Similar shapes created in earlier versions also do not print.
I am using Vista on a laptop. The laptop is wirelessly connected to a PC
running XP. (Previous laptop running XP printed okay).

The printer is a HP Business Inkjet 1000 (updated driver).

I have the box checked “Print Drawings Created in Word†in the Display
section of Word Options.

The same doc1.doc (when saved as 97-2003) does print the shape when opened
on the PC.

Kind regards
Mike

Does the shape appear in Print Layout view and/or in Print
Preview? In Word 2007, click on Office Button | Word Options |
Advanced, scroll down to the Printing section, and uncheck the
"Use draft quality" box.

Hi Garfield

Many thanks for replying so quickly. I have followed your advice carefully
and report as follows.

When the document is open in Word 2007 it displays the “Shape†in Print
Layout | Full Screen Reading | Web Layout. The “Shape†disappears when the
document is open in Outline or Draft.

In Word 2007, I have clicked on Office Button | Word Options |
Advanced, scrolled down to the Printing section, and unchecked the
"Use draft quality" box, but the shape still disappears (the box was
unchecked).

Kind regards
Mike
PS If I create a pdf file it copies the shape and displays correctly but
printing from the pdf it disappears again

Hi Mary
Many thanks for that suggestion.

I followed the link to Bruce’s page and read the advice (I respect the
warnings about regedit and never go there).
Following his suggestions, I have been to HP website and there is no update
driver for Vista.

What I did next, was to connect the laptop (Vista) directly to the printer
(HP Business Inkjet 1000), it automatically installed the driver. I then
printed the doc1.docx and the shape printed correctly.

But...
when I connected the printer back to the PC and tried again the printer
failed to print the shape, it only printed the text.

When I print the same doc1.docx from the PC (XP) it too prints fine.

Thanks again
Kind regards
Mike
