shapes visibility

I am looking for a way to make my shapes invisible or faint but appear fully
once the mouse pointer is placed on top of them. Is this possible. Thanks for
your help

Shapes do support transparency (check out the shapesheet). You'd obviously
have to write code that includes mouse events.

Transparency would be a good way to go, as Al says.
