once I have created a SS for a particular shape, how can I copy it (form and
values) to another shape (or replace the SS of another shape with one in the
same form).

I need a shape sheet manager!

The Shapesheet is just an easy viewer for the content of the shape.
Depending on what you want to copy, you can copy the shape to create a new
shape or use VBA code to apply the changes to several shapes.

you can consider using shape studio to create custom property sets, which
can then be assigned to shapes in your drawings. Shape studio is a component
in v2003 sdk on msdn.
