Shared calendar - create in Outlook 2002 or 2003?

I need to create a shared calendar among several users in a domain, some who
have Outlook 2002 and some who have Outlook 2003. Is there an advantage in
creating the shared calendar on a 2003 machine versus on a 2002 machine? Does
it become easier to share a calendar from one or the other version? Any other
suggestions?

I actually tried to create a shared calendar on the 2003 machine, but when I
tried to access it from another user's system running 2002, I got the message
"Unable to display the folder. The calendar folder could not be found." Is
there some kind of downward incompatibility issue?

How are you sharing the calendar? Is it in an exchange public folder? Did
that user have permissions on the folder?

Outlook 2002 and 2003 should not have problems - throw 2000 into the mix and
it's a different story.

Thanks for your quick reply. I think I created the calendar in a public
folder. And as far as I know, I did give permission for the other user to
access the calendar, but I am not sure if I gave permission to access the
folder. How can I check this? Note that I am a neophyte when it comes to
Exchange.

Diane Poremsky [MVP]

right click on the calendar folder and choose properties - check the
permissions there. If it's a subfolder, check the parent folder(s)
permissions.
