Shared Calendars in Outlook 2003 disappear

T

Techy DuWright

I have a strange problem happening with Outlook 2003 and shared calendars
folders for my executive staff. My Executive Admin assistant keeps the
executive calendars open during the day and is able to judge when the time
is free. Wednesday she exited from Outlook at the end of the day as usual.
She came back today and all of the calendars have disappeared. When she
adds them back in they will hold until she goes to read her email. When she
goes back to calendar she gets an error that says she does not have
permission for the path. When she goes to email and then back again they
reappear. If she exists out she has to reselect them for her shared
calendar list box.

Any Ideas of what is going on?

Try restarting outlook using the /resetnavpane switch.

Hi Techy,

From the post log, I understand that your Executive Admin assistant
suddenly encountered a shared calendar issue on Outlook 2003.

First, it may be caused by corrupt Navigation Pane and please try Diane's
suggestion. I would like to attach detailed steps here just for your
reference:

1. Click Start, click Run, type "Outlook /resetnavpane" (without the
quotation marks).

Note 1: There is a space character between Outlook and the forward slash
(/).

Note 2: "/resetnavpane" means clears and regenerates the Navigation Pane
for the current profile. Removes all Shortcuts and Favorite Folders. Has
the same effect as deleting profilename.xml in your user directory.

What is the result?

If the issue persists, please ask your Executive Admin assistant creating a
new profile to test the issue.

How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918

If the issue still could not be fully resolved, I would like to double
confirm the following questions:

1. Did the calendar's permission change recently?

2. Could you please let your Executive Admin assistant capture a screenshot
of the detailed error message?

Screenshot:
=======
1. Whenever the error appears, please press the Print Screen key (PrtScn)
on your keyboard.
2. Click Start, click Run, type MSPAINT, and click OK.
3. In Paint, click Paste under the Edit Menu, click Save under the File
menu, type a file name for the snap shot, choose JPEG as "Save as type",
click "Desktop" on the left pane, and click Save.
4. Please find the screenshot on the Desktop and send it as an attachment
to: (e-mail address removed).

If there is any update, please keep us posted.

Regards,

Daisy Cao, MCSE 2000

Hi Techy,
Did this work for you? I am having a similar issue.. I have a user who has
several shared calendars opened at all times, they started disappearing on
her when she logged out, we never had an issue with this before and she is
the only person this is happening to, she reopened all the calendars it was
ok for a few days then they were gone again? Did you find a resolution?

Dear Daisy:

I am sorry that I have not gotten back to you, my Technet subscription got
HiJacked. Microsoft had to get me reattached.

Your suggestion to recreate the email profile worked. The switches
suggested by Diane did not.

Hello Daisy,

i'm assisting one of my users with a similar problem and have tried and
followed certain articles related to what you have posted here with no help.
The user has delegate access to many calendars and also has access to some
Functional Mailboxes (60-70 in total).
It so happens that these shared cal;s and additional mailboxes disappear
randmly and she has to re-add them all one by one.
reset navpane, new profile, ost, configured on a loaner laptop, windows
profile - nothing has helped us. So we can conclude it is something with her
account and not with Outlook Client.

Appreciate a response if you have any thoughts on this.

rgds,

navyn.

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| If the issue persists, please ask your Executive Admin assistant creating
a
| new profile to test the issue.
|
|
|
|
| 2. Could you please let your Executive Admin assistant capture a
screenshot
| of the detailed error message?
|
| Screenshot:
| =======
|

| | I have a strange problem happening with Outlook 2003 and shared
calendars
| | folders for my executive staff. My Executive Admin assistant keeps the
| | executive calendars open during the day and is able to judge when the
| time
| | is free. Wednesday she exited from Outlook at the end of the day as
| usual.
| | She came back today and all of the calendars have disappeared. When
she
| | adds them back in they will hold until she goes to read her email.
When
| she
| | goes back to calendar she gets an error that says she does not have
| | permission for the path. When she goes to email and then back again
they
| | reappear. If she exists out she has to reselect them for her shared
| | calendar list box.
| |
| | Any Ideas of what is going on?
| |
