Shared document not formatting

Paris

Hi all, i have word 2003 on 3 XP home pc's networked to
share a folder. In that folder i have documents and when
i apply changes to the document for some reason it does
not open on another pc as the modified document ie all
changes as per before. I have checked the time stamp on
the document and it seems to be accurate, ie modified
date.Has anyone come accross this problem before and if
so how do i solve it. I had word 2002 on 2 PC's and word
2003 on one PC and as of today have upgraded all 3 PC's
to word 2003 to make them all the same version. The
systems have all been patched and updated as well.
Many thanks in advance
Paris

Hi Paris

If it's only the formatting that is not appearing in the document on all
machines then, in the File > Open dialog, make sure that the "Files of
Type" box says All Files, or All Word Documents or Word Documents.

Hope this helps.

.
Hi Shauna, no thats not the problem !! if i open the
same file on different PC's from the same share ie
location is the same they open in a different format. ie
if i have lines set up say from mid way and i move them
to the start they dont then seem to have effect after
they have been saved. ie if i open that file on another
pc it still shows the old one. The file also shows its
been accessed and modified!

Hi Paris

At Tools > Templates and Add-ins, is the "Automatically update document
styles" ticked? If so, un-tick it, make a change in the document (eg
space, and then backspace, so Word will know it has to save it) and then
save the document.

Does that solve the problem?
