Shared Tasks

Okay, I'm a newbie so be gentle.

I manage 50 employees and I want to better manage tasks I assign to my
staff. Currently I assign a task to an employee and when I do I lose
the ability to set a reminder to follow up on that task as I'm no
longer the owner. Without proper follow up, tasks go undone.

Anybody have a suggestion as to the best way to assign shared tasks
and retain the ability to keep a reminder...or at least something
equivalent?

Running SBS 2003, exchange 2003. Client boxes are all 2000 or XP.
