Well, if the network share is set to certain permissions, then although
everyone can LOOK at it, but only the people who can save on that particular
share could save the file.
So, for instance let's say that your network share is named
\\OfficeDocuments\Excel. Then, any user who has read/write permissions to
that share could look at and edit any document on the share. Any user who
has read permissions can look at the document, and they can technically mess
with it however they want, but they won't be able to SAVE it back up to the
share.
Now, if you want users to be able to read/write some of the documents on the
share, but not others... I don't know an answer to that one.
