Sharepoint 2007 available in beta?

Hi, somewhere I read that Sharepoint 2007 was supposed to be in the Office
2007 download. I don't have it. Is it still available, as I read there were
some problems with it?

Also realize it is to replace Frontpage, so no Frontpage in the Office suite.

Thanks.

Are you talking about Sharepoint Server or Sharepoint Designer?
SHarepoint Designer is one of the replacements of Frontpage. The other
is Expression Web Designer, currently available as Community Technology
Preview (CTP, something like a beta version). Sharepoint Designer should
be available from the Office preview site where you can download the
other Office programs (now for $1.50). EWD is available free of charge.
Simply search Google or Microsoft for EWD.

I was looking for Sharepoint Designer, which doesn't appear to be in my
version of MS Office 2007 I downloaded ($1.50 version) yesterday. I am a home
user, so maybe I got Office without it. Or, maybe it's not showing up in the
shortcuts?

After reading re Sharepoint, I think it's far beyond what I need as I am the
sole designer of a personal web site (http://jackmaryetc.com) as well as for
a couple of organizations (altho I use freebie programs for the latter so if
anyone else takes over ..) EWD seems to use a different approach, but may be
worth taking a look at. I'm quite comfortable with Frontpage 2003. Any
suggestion which might be more suitable for my purposes?

Thanks for your response.

Sharepoint Designer is a separate download on the preview website. It is
not included in the Office Pro package you prob. got. I haven't been on
the site since the fee was introduced, so I don't know if it can be
downloaded at the same time as Office Pro or not.
SharePoint Designer is aimed at sites that are running on a SharePoint
Server.
EWD is aimed at websites. EWD is going to be highly web
standards-compatible and hence some of the things FrontPage 2003 has,
will not be in EWD anymore (they are not standards-compliant).
If you are not working with a SharePoint Server, use EWD.
BTW, you will be very hard-pressed to find differences between SPD and
EWD right now. EWD and SPD are essentially the same in their current
beta versions. EWD was split off from SPD after SPD's Beta 1 Technical
Refresh. The next CTP of EWD (I don't know when it will be available),
will be quite different from SPD though.

I think the EWD CTP and Office 2007 Beta 2 can be installed on the same
computer, but I am not sure. You might have to go with SPD for now, if
EWD won't install if Office 207 Beta 2 is already there.

I, too, am looking for Sharepoint 2007 - where do you get it and how much
does it cost? I have web sites created with Front Page 2003 but have upgraded
to Vista - so it seems I need to do a program change. I am not a professional
web site designer but am comfortable with FP 2003. Please help me decide how
to progress withoug FP2003.
