Sharepoint Document Edit Problems - full story no screen dumps

Further to my recent posting a more detailed explanation of the problem
encountered - any solutions gratefully appreciated.
Project Server and Sharepoint Installed without problem, Sharepoint subweb
provisioned when new projects published to the server.

View and Upload Documents to Public Folder on Sharepoint:

New Document option selected, Word document created and saved, save dialogue
box indicates document is being saved to a Team Web Site shared documents
folder.

Word document is then closed.

New Word document visible in list on

<server name>/projectserver/DocLib/DocLibDrillDown.asp? page.

Word document opened for editing, edits made and saved first by clicking the
save button, and then by CTRL+S afterwards - interestingly CTRL+S provokes
momentary appearance of a "Saving" dialogue box which shows that the
document is being saved as http:// to the public documents/Shared Documents
location.

File is closed and Word is exited.

Clicking the Save and Close button on the

<server name>/projectserver/DocLib/DocLibDrillDown.asp? page.

Results in the following Error being displayed.

Clicking the Back browse button and then on the

<server name>/projectserver/DocLib/DocLibDrillDown.asp? page.

Clicking the Go back to Document Library button shows the document and the
last modified field shows the time when the document was last saved, this
being the time when edits to the document were made. Clicking on the file
name provokes a "File Download" dialogue box, opening the file reveals a
document with no changes.

Right clicking on either the document icon of the file name and choosing the
"Open Link in New Window" option again provokes a "File Download" dialogue
box, opening the file in a Web browser as opposed to Word reveals the
document with the edit changes retained.

Returning to the

<server name>/projectserver/DocLib/DocLibDrillDown.asp? page.

And electing to edit the document results in the document being opened in
Word and the edits, that were not visible when clicking on the icon or file
name and opening the shared document in a browser, being visible. Further
edits are made and the document is saved.

The document list on the

<server name>/projectserver/DocLib/DocLibDrillDown.asp? page.

Shows the time that the document was most recently saved but when clicking
on the icon or file name and opening the shared document in a browser the
document reflects no changes at all.

Upload Existing Document:

An existing Excel Document is uploaded to Sharepoint.

Exactly the same problems are encountered, again the edit time displayed is
correct but the file viewed is without latest updates - right clicking on
the icon or file name opens the file in a separate browser window and the
edits are visible.

If anyone else has experienced this "feature" can you please provide an
explanation and if possible a work around or fix?

Dominic:

It doesn't appear that anyone has direct insight to share so how about some
speculation? What happens if you stop and start IIS after you save the
changes to the document?

Gary,

Thanks for the feedback - I tried IIS reset but will give it another go. I
have subsequently
discovered that opening the document in a separate window reveals the up to
date version and that subsquent to this clicking the icon or document name
in sharepoint also opens the up to date version of the document - hopefully
resetting IIS will avoid having to use this "workaround" in future - I have
encountered exactly the same issue on my own test installation of Project
Server so maybe it is me and not the software which causes this problem.
