Sharepoint Linkbar with new folder

I'm having a wierd problem and don't know if I'm just missing
something.
I created a folder (not a subsite) under a Sharepoint site to help me
categorize Lists and Web Part pages. When trying to add a link in a
link bar, it doesn't see my new folder. I can manually put in the
relative path in the address field, but it seems odd that the folder
doesn't show up. When selecting Current Folder, rather than my new
folder I get the listing of the root web.

Any ideas?
