Sharepoint Server or WSS

this is an instilation question. In a basic instlation of EPS is it necessary
to install Sharepoint Server or only WSS? If I only need WSS when would I
need Sharepoint Server?

WSS are team sites and SPS is the portal server. To my knowledge you
can go with only WSS

Standard usage with Project Server 2003 is indeed Windows SharePoint
Services.

Unless saratoga knows why he needs SharePoint Portal Server 2003 instead of
WSS, he shouldn't use SPS 2003. (Why pay for functionality you don't need
and "enjoy" a more complex setup)

Thank you for your comments. My confusiion over this is partly due to the
fact that both Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server are
listed as Project Server Componients in the MOPS Single Computer Instilation
Guide. I wish the optional Componients were identified as such.
