SharePoint Tasks lists

When assigning a Project Workspace Task List item to an individual, no e-mail
is sent to the individual stating that an item has been assigned to them.
This could leave a task incomplete because the individual assigned to the
task was never notified of the assignment.

I am thinking of using a trigger on the SQL dB to automate the sending of
notifications for these tasks. However, the Reporting dB does not show the
WSS task list items, only the Issues, Risks, and Deliverables.

It is my thought that the Tasks list from WSS should be included in the
Reporting dB and the notifications when someone is assigned to a task, issue,
or risk be automated as an e-mail.

Hello Jesse,

Tasks list is an custom list on in Project Workspace. Custom lists
data will not be populated in Reporting database.
Risks/Issues/Deliverbales are default project lists and internally
integrated with project schedules, so these will be show up in
Reporting database.

No alerts are setup automatically, so you must subscribe for the
alerts, notifications that you want. Every user must subscribe to
receive notifications.

Steps:

On Tasks list, Click on Actions menu; Click on Alert Me.

Exactly. Less of a question, more of a comment. I think that anytime an
individual is ASSIGNED to the risk, issue, or tasks, then they should be
notified automatically. Or have a global option for all SharePoint sites, so
that they do not have to individually create these rules for each workspace.

Hello,

You can turn off notifications for everyone (OR) you can turn on the
notifications for all the projects.

But once it is turn on, the individual notifications per project need
to be done by user.

Thanks
