Sharing PowerPoint that includes video

W

wmertel

Using PowerPoint 2003, I have created a presentation with video of some
client testimonials and now I'd like to be able to share, via Email, this
presentation including the videos with prospects.

I gather from discussions I see that it is not possible to do this via
Email? Evidently the video files are hosted on my system and are not
embedded in the presentation.

How can I best accomplish my objective? Are there third-party applications
(affordable) that can accomplish this?

Any ideas?

wmertel,

If you email the video clips - (assuming they are not too big to email) -
then it's possible.

The trick is to put the video clips in the same folder as your powerpoint
presentation

then insert > movies > from file.

to insert the videos into powerpoint.

Make sure the total path length is not over 128 characters
see
http://www.echosvoice.com/tshoot_video2.htm

Then email everything to the end user.

Make sure they put all the files in the same folder (again not over 128
characters long)

cheers

If you have an existing website, you could convert the presentations
to a more web friendly format (such as Flash or Windows Media), then
upload to your website. Then you could just email a simple link which
your viewers would click and the presentation would playback in their
web browser. Converting the PowerPoint presentations to Flash or
Windows Media has several advantages over emailing the whole
presentation with embedded videos:

1) Embedding video in PowerPoint requires you to send the linked
video too, which may be too big to send via email
2) Anyone with a web browser can view your content, whereas if you
sent the presentation as is, they'd need PowerPoint installed
3) Avoids incompatibility issues that generally arise when trying to
embed video in PowerPoint
4) Having the presentations at a central location allows your viewers
to more easily access the content (no fishing around their hard drive
for the PowerPoint) - they just need the link to your site

There are a variety of PowerPoint to Flash conversion tools
available. Try Google. I also make a product that allows you to do
this if you wanted to give it a shot.

Good luck.
