Sharing Violation

Why do I get a sharing violation when I try to save an xls doc?
I am using Office XP with XL 2002. I've tried to reinstalling. Save to
different folders/desktop. Any xl doc has this problem. I dont have this
problem with word.

What is the exact error message you encounter? How are you opening the
file? Are you using File/Open or double-clicking it from an Exploring
window?

The exact message is
"Your changes could not be saved to "###.xls" because of a sharing
vioaltion. Excel has created a temporary file wit your changes preserved. You
can save the temporary file as a new new or lose your changes and all future
changes."
This occurs when I try to save, not save as, but save. It does occur when I
open the file.

Thanks for the exact error message. I also need to know how are you
opening the files.

Additionally, are the files stored on a network drive?
