Shell not always working

i'm using VBA and the Shell function to call Excel from Excel.
on some PCs it works fine and others it does not.
all are using the same version of Office.
any clues?

It would help if you showed the code you used, and the environment (OS
and Excel versions) where it works and where it doesn't.
