Shopping Cart no E-commerce

Has anyone created a simple shopping cart in a site. There is no need for
payment or inventory tracking. I was hoping for a shortcut as opposed to
designing from scratch. Just want a shopping cart that sends the order
through email.

since you don't require payment, this may not help, but PayPal provides code
to link to their shopping cart for free, they process payment and send you
the order, so if you want to accept paypal payments that's the free and easy
way.

maybe you could just create a Form that's emailed to you with all the order
info and bypass a shopping cart.

also several hosting companies (ie myhosting.com) provide shopping cart
software free with hosting but that's probably more complicated than what you
need.

have a look at www.hotscripts.com and similar "script" sites.
generally the term for what you're describing is a "catalog" a "non-cart"
shopping cart.

Thanks Chris,

I looked at hotscripts and have found some great stuff. I have begun using a
true shopping cart program (comersus) for another project that I really like.
However, I still haven't found what I'm looking for.

I like commersus, spent a ton of dough on it too.
what I like a lot better at a fraction of the price is www.candypress.com
you know, there's a free version of candypress and it will run in "catalog
mode" and might be what you need.

If you give me a little more depth to exactly what you're trying to do, I
might be able to give you a specific application recommendation (or maybe
someone else will too).

Actually I downloaded candypress but haven't tried it yet. I'll take a look
at catalog mode.

I have a catalog on a web site but all it is is just pages with product
pictures and product numbers. I turned the hard copy into web pages.
It is for a manufacturing company and they do not sell to the public. There
are problems taking phone orders and fax orders where they have wrong product
numbers on orders, number of cases vs. number of items and some he said she
said things. I would like to create a catalog for ordering with post order
payment options. It's to remove human error and debates over who made the
mistake.
