Short Cut error

I just installed Microsoft office home and student 2007. Installation was
completed.

Whether I click on the microsoft word, excel from the Programs shortcut or
from a shortcut I created to the desktop, I get this.

"Problem with Shortcut"
This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.

Since the installation was completed, this should not happen, correct?
How can I resolve this.

Is Vista the operating system? Was anti-virus and anti-malware software
disabled during the install?
