Short term memory loss - can't customize Word

B

I can add custom toolbar's, menu's, AutoText items, etc. to Word
(Normal.dot) but they are not there the next time I open the program.
Any ideas?

This computer is running Office 2003 sp2 and is a client on a SBS 2003
network.

Thanks - Bob

OK, I found a part of the answer by holding Shift key and selecting
File - Save All.

That works but can someone tell me what that is and how I can make it
so I don't have to do that every time I want to make a change?

More than likely you have Adobe's PDFMaker add-in installed. In past
versions of the add-in it would modify your Normal.dot each time Word
started, due to how they added their menu/toolbar commands, and users
complained about it. So...instead of correcting their code or loading
their menu/toolbar commands correctly, in their infinite wisdom they
elected to discard all changes to Normal.dot when you exit Word.
<sigh>

You either need to remove the add-in or, as you found, hold Shift and
use File\Save All to prevent your changes from being discarded.

Well that's good to know. The PDFmaker was the problem. Thank you for
your help!
