Shortcut on desktop for users to .accdbe database

Hey there,
I have a database that I compiled, so its an .accdbe and I wanted to
distribute it to everyone in the company. Can I put the .accdbe on a shared
drive and set up a shortcut on each users desktop so they can all access the
database.
Then whenever I need to make changes I can make them, compile it, copy over
the file to the shared drive and everyone is good to go again.
I was reading about Tony Toews Auto Front End Updater and thats great and all,
but is that the ONLY solution, other than each user having a copy of the
database on their own pc's?
Can't they just have a shortcut?
Please lend me your thoughts, thanks!!

Hi,

First, this newsgroup is about ADP and has nothing to do with MDB, MDE,
ACCDB or ACCDE files.

Second, in your case, this should work; it has always been suggested in the
newsgroups that each user should have his/her very own copy of the Frontend
in order to diminish the traffic on the network and reduce the possibility
of corruption when the file is compiled by multiple users over the network;
especially in the cases where these users could have different versions of
Windows/Office/SP. There is also the question of properties; which could
get different values depending on each users (if you are using this feature,
of course).

Maybe there are other potential problems, too.

In the case of a AACDE file, the question of compilation is probably
unimportant - because the file is already 100% compiled - but just to be
sure, I would set the file to be read-only.

Other than that, if you want a more accurate answer, you should ask in a
more appropriate newsgroup than this one.
