Show by groups

I use OL 03 and want my email messages to be shown by Date, but not "shown
by groups". But every time I create a new folder it checks "show by groups"
by default, so that I have to go uncheck it. Can I change this default? If
so, how can I do that? Thank you.

Thanks Brian for the link to the website of tips etc and for the specific
article addressing my problem. I have a further question you may be able to
help me with.

Since in the 5th paragraph this article says "Select the view *by name*, not
using <Current View Settings>" it seems like it is primarily addressing the
disabling of group views while viewing "Contacts" rather than one's "Inbox".
Since I like the special views that I have set up in Contacts and want to
get rid of the "view by groups" in my Inbox, I had 3 more questions.

1. Does the article address how I can disable "view by groups" in my Inbox
as well as or even "instead of" in my Contacts?
2. Does running "Outlook / cleanviews" get rid of any customized groups I
have set up for my Contacts folders?
3. Do you know an easy way to restore those views I customized for
Contacts?

However, the "Messages" view doesn't apply very well to the Contacts folder,
so altering that view seems a logical choice.

Just use the "Messages" view.

/cleanview will delete all custom views. I don't know if what you call a
"group" is related in any way to views. If you could explain what you mean
more precisely, I may be able to answer.

Contacts?

The only way I know is to recreate them.
