Is there a way to show online statis on my home page so
for example my brother comes to my page and can tell if I
am online to message me?

You need to check with the IM site you are using, for the required HTML code
to implement, if available.

OK thanks Steve, next Idea, is there a way to set up
live chat window on my page? that would be soo cool!

Yes, but it requires a 3rd party service that provide the HTML code needed
or you can search for Chat application that can be installed on your server
based on the OS of the server and what the host supports or is willing to
support.

I know that both Yahoo IM and ICQ
have this feature.

I've never used online status, but I understand
the yahoo one can be rather quirky.

Actually, if you have and use MSN IM
Outlook Express will tell you who's online / logged in.
