Show track changes without edit info

In Word 2000, I want to show my track changes to other
users, but do not want them to see the editing info when
the hover over the change with their mouse. (i.e. author,
when changed and how). I tried to change my options here
so that none were by author but the user info still shows
up. Any way to leave track changes on to show editing with
showing editing info?

Hi AS

There are two things going on here. Tools > Options > Track Changes and
show "by author" only changes the way that tracked changes are displayed
(eg what colours Word users). It doesn't change what information is
actually stored in the file.

Whenever Word tracks a change, it records the date and time of the
change. You can't tell Word not to record the date and time of a tracked
change, and you can't change the date and time shown for old tracked
changes.

Whenever Word tracks a change, it records the name of the author as
displayed at Tools > Options > User Information. If you replace your
name and initials with a space, then subsequently tracked changes won't
show your name.

The following has information about metadata and security issues that
you may find useful: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=237361

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I ahd already tried removing the user
info and leaving it blank but because we are on a network
environment, it captured the user's login name and
inserted it.
