Shut Down Error with Memory

T

TS Confused

When word 2000 shuts down I get an error message that-
winword has caused an error in winword.exe-, after
clicking close, word shuts down.

If control-alt-delete is pushed winword is still running.
If word is started and stopped multiple times (always with
the error on shutdown) there will be multiple winwords
running.

Everytime word is started the same documents (that have
been sent to my recycle bin) are in the recently opened
documents (even if other documents have been used and
saved). If options are changed, word always reverts back
to the same old options on startup.

My kids are using word for their home work and I need help.

Thanks,
TS

See the following FAQ:

Word process will continue to run if Outlook is open and you are using Word
as your email editor.

Outlook is not open. The normal template has been renamed
several times and all temp files have been delated. I have
run regclean and tried to repair word. Word runs normally,
but when shut down I get the error message and it still
runs. After rebooting and opening word the same 4 files
are always in the recently opened files. If I go to tools
and tel not to show recently opened files, they disappear
only to reappear when word is reopened.

Help.
