Side by side install of Project Server 2003 and 2007

Glenn

We have done a side by side install of Project Server 2003 and 2007. Project
2003 is installed to the defailt website in IIS port 80. ProjectServer 2007
is installed to a separate website also using port 80. This of course is
preventing us from accessing Project 2003..so we assumed stopping the project
server web site and startin project 2003 website (default) would allow us to
connect to Proejct 2003 but even with project 2007 site turned off we geta
apage can not be displayed. Any ideas hwo to fix?

Glenn:

If by "side-by-side" you mean that you installed them to the same machine,
it is simply not possible to run these together. Project Server 03 requires
WSS 2.0 while Project Server 07 requires WSS 3.0.

I found this

You will need to uninstall Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and install
Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 on port 80. You can then install Windows
SharePoint Services 3.0 side-by-side as per the attached guidance, but you
must ensure that Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 remains installed on the
default port 80 in order for Team Foundation Server to remain serviceable.

Let me know if it helped.

I agree with Gary, as my comment is related to the ProjServUpgrade.doc put
out by Microsoft for migration, at the bottom it says:

Can Windows SharePoint Services "2.0" and Windows SharePoint Services
version 3 be installed on the same computer side-by-side?
Yes, side-by-side installation of Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 and
Windows SharePoint Services version 3 is supported.

But does not tell you how, so in asking our tech guru, it is not
recommended, and as Gary says, we found that you had to have WSS 2 and 3 on
separate boxes to migrate. You however are wanting to run them side by side,
not migrate, so......
