Signature On First Email/Response Only

Is there a way to have your default signature only appear on the first
response in an email chain? I would like my signature to appear on any new
messages I send and also on any replies I send the first time. If I am
emailing back and forth with someone, I only want the signature to appear
the first time I either initiate a chain or reply to a chain.

Automatic signatures are either all or nothing.

I suggest you disable the automatic signature for your account and then
use the Signature menu button to add your signature when you want it.

I suggest you disable the automatic signature for your account and then
use the Signature menu button to add your signature when you want it.

Use one of the insert text applications like SpellCatcherX, TypeIt4Me or
TypeExpander to insert your sig when needed. Once you use the shortcut
expanders, you'll wonder how you ever typed without one.

if you download my 'set sig for reply' script at
<http://www.barryw.net/scripts/> you can do most of what you want.

This script will select a different signature if the message you are
writing is a reply.

It's a bit of a work-round, but it is useful.
