signature with logo and attachment signs

I use outlook 2007 and I have a logo in my signature; even if I only link to
an image file - when my e-mail is received the recipient still sees an
attachment sign and the logo is the only image in the html e-mail...

is that standard behavior? why is outlook caching and embedding the image if
I am choosing "link to a file"?
