Similarly Named Tasks in Different Project Files - Combine to ReportTogether?

Hello. In my organization, we have several different project files
for
each
of our different accounts. Within each project, there are the EXACT
same
tasks, written the exact same way. So for example, if there are five
different project files for five different accounts, all of them will
have
"sample processing" as a task within the project.

I am trying to determine an easy way to report the actual work
completed for
each project, filtering only on one particular task. So, I would like
to see
what the total hours for "sample proecessing" are by EACH project
file
at a
glance.

Is there a way to do this quickly? I have thought of using a Master
Project,
but didn't know if that was the best way to go about it.

Thanks!

Hello,

Where all those projects located? If you are using MS Project Server,
then this may not be issue.
Please provide more details?

Which Project Server version you are using?

Thanks

I have a fair amount of experience with SQL and SQL Reporting Services
so I like that as an answer. Writing a report through SQL would be a
pretty easy way to group these tasks by name. No methods using the
Project Server views comes to mind, but I may be missing something.

Also, in similar installations, we have added a Enterprise code at the
task level, so if the tasks get renamed, they still can be flagged for
special reporting. Usually we then bake this into templates that PMs
must use.

Hello!

The projects are located on the MS Project Server. We are running the
MS Project Server 2003.

I'm pretty sure I'm just missing a way to report on it all. Its just
that all the reports are so confusing. And since I want to combine
similar tasks between several projects, that makes it even harder!
