simple combobox code

okay all i am trying to do is create a combo box which holds about
people's initials but can also accept someone's initials even if the
aren't in the list...is that possible? if so what is the code to do so
i have tried to find just a quick code but can't find anything. HELP

Is this on a worksheet or a userform?

If it's on a worksheet, maybe Data|validation would work for you.
(and you can turn the warning message off (on the Alert Tab).
