Simple publishing question

Chris Pisarra

Hi

I'm just starting on this; there will be plenty of dumb questions to
come.

The site name is www.pacificmicrocap.com.

On my computer, I have named the web "PMC".

So when I went to publish, FP2000 published to
www.pacificmicrocap.com/PMC, which isn't what I want at all, I just want
to publish to the main URL

do I have to rename the web on my laptop to the same name as the
URL? What obvious thing am I missing?

Thanks

Chris

you don't have to rename anything.
file/ publish web. in the publish web dialog box just set your cursor at
the end of the url and backspace till you remove the /PMC and publish.
you may have created a subweb on the server so you might want to open the
live web and delete it.
(file/ open web. type in the http://address of your site) see the subweb,
right click and select delete.

Hi Chris,

Ensure that when you have opened the PMC web for publishing, its the root
web in FrontPage. You should see the contents of PMC in the Folder View.
You should not be seeing the PMC folder instead! Now when you publish
select the destination as http://www.pacificmicrocap.com.

This should resolve the issue

Vijay

But that part never show up anywhere. I only entered the
base URL to start with, and that's all that shows in the publish
window--there isn't anything to backspace over. And then it occurs when
I try to see the site.

This part gets me nowhere--I'm just not understanding, I
guess. When I try it, I just end up at new_page_1.htm, and can't see
anything of the web site I created.

I'm so confused...........

Open FrontPage, Click File > Open web... Make sure the web folder PMC is
open ( click folder view and ensure the files are present ) Then select
File > Publish web.
In the next pop up click Cancel and then enter: http://pacificmicrocap.com
and click OK.
Enter username and password and it should publish.
