Simulate Save As TXT?

I've got a Notepad file with sentences I'm trying to match to sentences in a
Word doc file. It works okay unless the Word sentence has no tabs or smart
quotes. I could save the doc file as txt and reopen that, I guess. But is
there any way to get the "txt" equivalent of a Word range?

Are you trying to convert a text document to a Word document or vice versa -
or even something in between? Can you be a bit more specific about the
nature of the problem?
