Site search engine problem

Roderick

I have read all the comments I can find on the subject of the FrontPage
search engine web component, and implemented all those that I can. I still
have a problem.

The standard search page component returns an error message "Unknown error
0" and no results. The search facility within the discussion forum (used to
search the previous discussions) returns the same error although the forum
itself works OK.

I am hosting on a Windows server running FrontPage Sharepoint services which
have been reloaded prior to my website being uploaded via the FP option (not
FTP). My server administrator tells me that they do not run Index Catalogue -
is that the problem and if so do I have to move my site elsewhere?

Any suggestions appreciated

Yes, that is most likely the problem. Moving your site elsewhere is your
choice.

Thank you for your reply. It amazes me how many web-hosting companies offer
"FrontPage server extensions" or "Sharepoint service" but when you try to use
them there is some element missing. Despite asking very specific questions
before opening accounts, I am currently on my third host and still searching.

I cannot believe I am the first person to use these services within FrontPage!

Anyway, many thanks for you help - it is appreciated.

Each web host can choose which features they wish to offer/support.
