size limit when opening excel?

Oscar

I have a computer with 2gigs memory and over 3Ghz cpu, but when I have a
70mb spreadsheet open and I then try to simultaneously open a 50mb
speadsheet I get a window message that says I do not have the available
resources to do so. Might this be an excel limit, or something going on
with the OS?

Do the files link to one another? If they do then I believe there is a limit
of around 16MB, the message you describe is displayed if that limit is
exceeded.
I'm talking about Excel 2003, not sure about the latest version.
A 70 meg Excel file is huge though. Obviously I don't know what it contains.
If it has lots of static data then perhaps you should consider keeping that
data in an Access file and use Excel to refer to that file and just do the
calculations within it.
In my experience, although an Excel file can theoretically me enormous, they
don't work too well if they are that big,
Regards,
Alan.
