skipped headings Word 2007

My multilevel list appears to be correct in that the numbers follow and the
table of contents prints correctly. In the style panel at the Home tab,
Heading 1 appears to be correct as does Heading 2, ...............

but there is no Heading 3. I instead it skip to Heading 4, which appears to
correctly index as does my next index labeled Heading 5.

The table of contents item must extend to level V, despite the fact I only
use 4 levels.

When I try to modify the multilevel it will not allow me to assign a heading
3 saying that heading 3 exists or is reserved so I can't change my heading 4
to heading 3.

When I reveal formatting and styles there is clearly a heading 3, 4, and 5.

Updating heading 3 for what used to be heading for appears to have worked,
despite the fact I still don't see a heading 3 in my styles panel.

Attempting to do the same to move heading 5, by updating heading 4, does
not work, instead I get an error message, "This style has a circular based on
list." I don't know what that means.

What does all this mean? I tried to correct thru "Define New Multilevel
List" and the appear to be how I want it ordered, but nothing changes.

How can I make all this seem to make sense. Microhard should gives an
alternative method to do this bird's nest indexing. There are superior
ways of doing this.

If you are saying that heading 3 is missing from the quick styles gallery,
you can add it from the styles pane. Click the arrow at the lower left of
the styles group to open the pane, find heading 3, click the arrow to its
right, and choose "add to quick style gallery.

If you are saying the style does not appear in the styles pane, then at the
bottom of the styles pane, choose manage styles button > recommend tab.
Clear the check box next to "Show recommended styles only" and set the sort
order to "alphabetical". Look for your heading styles and make sure heading
3 is set to "show". It will be in black type with no words after the style
name. Back in the styles pane, you should now see heading 3.

You can find out what the TOC is looking for by right clicking the entire
TOC and selecting toggle field codes. If you don't understand the codes,
copy and paste the characters _inside_ the field braces and post back.
