Skipping a Heading Level

Jason

I'm currently using all 9 heading levels (with outline numbering) and
in order to get a section "just right" I'm thinking about skipping
heading level 4.

Just for that one section.

I've tested it out and it seems to work fine (references work,
numbering restarts as needed, etc.).

Is this a big no-no or should I be fine with this?

Thank you very much in advance ---- Jason

Shouldn't be a problem as far as the numbering is concerned: if Level 5
numbering is set to restart after Level 4, it will also, I believe, restart
after Level 3.

As for logic, well... theoretically, I guess it would be a no-no, but I can
understand where you're coming from. A lot of times a heading level just
seems too "important" for a short (even one-sentence) paragraph. At such
times you might consider whether you can eliminate the heading altogether by
using bullet points (or bare paragraphs) with the "heading" run in and
italicized or bolded to set it off, or some other, similar treatment.

response!
