SKU011.CAB

Okay, I've read the posts and I still am not getting any results. I don't
have the cd's and I purchased this computer off of ebay and the previous
owner cannot be found anymore. I've purchased the new 2007 version of
Office, but I am unable to UNinstall the 2003 program without the SKU011.CAB
file. PLEASE help! I don't need two versions, espcially one that I can't
use.

I just want to be able to uninstall the program without having to pay
someone to do it for me.

Thanks,
Blair

No, I didn't get any CD's with the computer. At the time, I wasn't too
worried about it because I had my computer Guru and at the time, didn't know
he was planning on moving to Colorado. So, now, I'm stuck.

Unfortunately, "stuck" isn't quite the word I was thinking. I would have
suggested you reformat the system, which should have been done before it was
sold but without the disks, DON'T DO IT. Unless you have an unused license
of Windows, you'll end up with a beige or black paperweight.

So, JoAnn, I think what you are saying is that I will have to either:
1. Pay someone to remove the program from my computer
2. Purchase 2003 so I can remove it from my computer

Am, I right?

What you can *try* is to find a friend or relative who happens to have the
*exact same version* of Office that's on your computer. Borrow their CDs
long enough to uninstall it from your system.

I fear you may find that your secondhand computer costs a lot more than what
you thought it would. Especially if you need to reload Windows for any
reason.

I've tried and no one I know has the version I have. I'm not worried about
the window operating system as I have a disc for that.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Blair,

This should not be a problem as the default action for upgrading to a newer
version of Office is for it to first remove all the files from the previous
version. What happens when you place the disc in the drive and choose
"Upgrade" at the prompt?

Thanks

Hi Doug,

When I have tried to upgrade or even tried to download the 2007 trial, it
will not uninstall or upgrade or operate without that SKU011.CAB file.
I've tried it several times in several different ways that I know. I'm not a
computer guru so I haven't tried to manually remove it from my computer.
When I purchased the 2007 home and student version, I had to install that one
by keeping the 2003 version on the computer. It wanted to upgrade, but it
couldn't without that file.

See my dilema?

Zach,

THank you so much for your offer. However, I have since paid someone to
remove Microsoft Office 2003, bought a new laptop and now have the old one
for sale at $350. It's a Sony Vaio. If ya know of anyone who might be
interested, email me at (e-mail address removed).

But, thank you again for your offer.
