Slide count field code?

What is the field code to display the total count of slides in a presentation?

Right now I am manually updating presentations with total slides by adding
"of xx" after the field code <#> in the master slide right hand bottom
footer.

But I constantly forget to update this manual entry when I remove or add
slides.

What is the PowerPoint 2003 field code I could place there that would update
automatically when I add or delete slides?

Sorry, for the miscommunication.... I am ADD.

My multiple submissions were not aimed at anyone's reply time.... but my
inability to state my request clearly. I was afraid that I did not state
myself clearly and someone was going to read my request as information about
the SlideID number.

Expressing ourselves accurately with the written word is difficult for us
ADD folks It always seems like the exact word is just outside of our reach.
The concept is there, but getting the words to represent the concept is major
point of frustration many times. That's why I am not a programmer... get
impatient with the details...and my poor follow through on completing
projects.... keep getting distracted onto the next big thought!

This page number or slide number thing has been bugging me for about 8
months (I am trainer and deskside support). I make many presesntations as
after support handouts, and revise them constantly on the fly....so the
tedioum of constantly having to navigate to the master slide is maddening.

I have been searching the Web and many, many PowerPoint books, VBA books all
to frustating dead ends.
So there was a lot of pain behind this request...

I did find a a free PPT Add-in that will drop "Slide XX of YY" in the middle
footer area....BUT, all my handouts I use the middle footer as the subject
sub-title area for the contents of my handouts.

I guess I should write the developer and ask if he could revise it to give
an option for choosing a default footer location.
