Slide display area shrinks after editing embedded object

I have a problem in Powerpoint. After I edit an embedded object on a slide,
the area where the toolbars are at the top of the screen exapnds and the area
that displays my slide shrinks. If I edit another embedded object the same
thing happens until the toolbar area takes up the whole screen. I must close
powerpoint and reopen to have it return to normal. I can find no way to
resize. Can anyone help?

I've never heard of this. What version of PowerPoint are you using and what
type of objects do you have embedded?

I've had this happen when editing graphs, but I can't remember what fixed
it. I think it was deleting the *.PCB files, but I'm not sure.

I remember we had a huge long thread about this years and years ago, but I
don't think we ever resolved it for sure.

I am running PowerPoint 2000 under Windows 2000. It is happening mostly with
embedded Excel tables and graphs.

Have you tried Echo's advice?

I did try Echo's advice and erased the PCB files. The problem still occurs.
