Visio 2007 objects in PowerPoint 2007

When I was using PowerPoint 2003 and Visio 2003, I was able to copy Visio
objects into PowerPoint as embedded objects which could be double clicked and
edited fairly easily. I could also ungroup the object, which would convert
it to a native PowerPoint shape which could be directly edited and handled
like any other PowerPoint shape.

I recently upgraded to PowerPoint 2007 and Visio 2007, only to find that I
have lost all of that functionality. Anything I copy from Visio will now be
pasted as a picture in PowerPoint with a white background and no hope of
being editable either through OLE or by converting it.

Is something wrong with my installation, or did the PowerPoint developers
take a few major steps backwards with the 2007 version? I really hope I'm
doing something wrong because otherwise I will be forced to go back to 2003.
These missing features make the 2007 versions unusable for me.

Also as a side note in case any of the PowerPoint developers read this
forum, I can get PowerPoint to crash on demand by doing the following:
(1) Open a PowerPoint 2003 presentation with a Visio 2002 object embedded on
a slide.
(2) Click on that slide in design view - instant crash.
However, in presentation mode, the slide will display without problems.
