Slides will not advance

First. I am not an expert.

I created a PPT that includes avi movies (not quicktime).

When I view by 'slide show' the only way I can move from slide to
slide is to use the green arrows. Using the space bar or the forward/
back arrows does nothing. I opened an older ppt and it works fine.
The only difference I can imagine is the addition of the avi movies.
I even deleted the movies and tried that, thinking that the movie
sizes were choking the application somehow. Didn't work. What should
I be looking at to narrow the problem choices?

Go to the Slide Show menu and choose Set Up Show. Is the option for
playing in a kiosk selected? If it is, choose Presented by a Speaker and
see if that helps.
