Slides won't advance if sound object not played from beginning

I inserted a sound object (have tried this with both midi and mp3s) into my
PPT.
As long as I play the song from the begining - it advances to the next
slide - no problem
But as soon as I go into Effect Options->Effects tab and tell it to Start
Playing 12 seconds into the song - it gets stuck on that slide and won't
advance to the next slide properly - even though I have the Stop Playing set
to 15 slides.

Any suggestions???
