Slow closing of program

Russ

Using XP HE - Office XP Stand. I suppose there are a host
of reasons that WORD does is very slow in closing,
however, I only have Avery & The open side panel patch as
Macros. I have done "Detect & Repair" several times.
Excel and Pwr Point close quickly. I am using WORD as
editor for Outlook. WHat might I be overlooking?
Thanks for your help.

Does disabling Word as your email editor speed things up?

Another possible reason for slow response in Word is the Journal in
Microsoft Outlook may be configured to automatically record items such
as when you open, close, and save documents. To turn off Outlook
Journal options:
1. Start Outlook.
2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
3. Click the Preferences tab, and then under Contacts, click Journal
Options.
4. Click to clear all the check boxes in the Journal Options dialog box,
click OK, and then click OK.

Thanks "garfield", but I don't have the Journal turned
on. I did go thru your suggestions, but there are not
any boxes checked. I probably should be using the
Journal, but haven't started it yet! ANy other
suggestions? Gut hunch is it is in main WORD program, but
I am not sure where. COuld the Avery macro be causing
this?

I don't think the Avery macro has much to do with it, but you can
temporarily uncheck it in Tools | Templates and Addins, and see if that
helps.

I'm thinking it's more related to using Word as an email editor.
