I have a Kyocera 5016 color LED Network printer with
256Mbs of RAM installed, when I try to print a booklet
about 16 pages the printer prints about 4 pages then
stops for a while to process then will start back up and
continue this until the job is done, does the booklet
mode use a lot of system resources?, I've been told even
maxing the RAM to 512 plus the 96 standard will not
help. Is there a work around for this?? Thank you very
much...

What you are experiencing is normal for Publisher documents.
It is not so much the Booklet mode, it is the content of the book, and
especially photographs.
There is no workaround, because what you are seeing is normal.
The only method that can sometimes overcome your issue is to make a PDF file
and then print the PDF file.

That Kyocera printer you have is a great bit of gear and one of the fastest
processing engines available.
Kyocera certainly show up what garbage HP equipment is today.

HP don't even honour their warranty they are such a rip-off company today
with all their support based in India.

Are you printing across a LAN? What speed is your LAN connection? What
speed is the LAN connection at the printer?
How big is the LAN? Corporation-sized?

Yes Ed it is I "Fluffy the wonder Kitten" the printer is
on an 8 station peer to peer all Nics are 10/100 baseT,
the switch is 10/100 baseT it is in a church running
tcp/ip no corporate LAN here. The only program that it
printing slow is Publisher and only in the booklet mode
which is placing two pages on one 8.5 X 11 size page, I
have set Ram Disk proportional to installed ram. From
what I know about publisher is that it is like printing a
bitmap, using all pixels on the screen and for color this
would be 96Mbs of Ram per page so putting two documents
on one would double the ram usage for one page. There
really is no network traffic to speak of. Connected
Crossover from my laptop to make sure her NIC wasnt
flaking out. I was hoping there may be a workaround
because I am Kyocera tech and really try to get our
equipment to run as smooth as possible with all software
the customer uses. Sometimes it don't work out the way
we would like so I try to search for some solution for
our customers.
To Brains: thanks for the props on our printers, I work
on hp's too and am sad to say they do not have the
customer field support that we can provide, I'm pretty
sure even if I can talk them into another 256Megs of Ram
and a Hard drive for the prtiner the rip times from
publisher are what they are. If you ever need any help
or questions on Kyocera products, I'd be happy to help,
respond back to this thread with an email add. I will
gladly assist. thanks for the responses. Fluffy
