SLOW email

G

goodmanse

I am using Outlook 2002.

I have noticed lately that the preview panel (bottom of
email list) is extremely slow to react.

(cut and pasted language from Richard's email, because we
have the same problem!!!)

I can click on an email subject, and have it take 15
seconds or so for it to display the email on the right.

Other times I will need to click OFF the email (click
another email) and then back to the original email, for
it to display at
all, and still have the lag time. Has anyone run into
this problem, and know what could be causing it? I do
have outlook showing html and images in emails (no
warnings please, I'm aware of the "risk"). Could this be
the problem? Thanks in advance! Stephen

I am having the same problem and I checked other people's
computers that I work with and their preview panel has
now really really slowed down to the point that it is
hard to go through a lot of emails. I think it started
after a windows update. THe other users think it started
on their computers after a windows update I went through
all of the windows updates that I added this month and
none of them seem to be related to Outlook except maybe
Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express 6 SP1
(KB823353). Unfortunately there is not an uninstall for
this update on my computer like the others. I'm not sure
that this is what is affecting it. The only other ones
updated at that time were:

Successful Thursday, July 15, 2004 Security Update for
Windows XP (KB839645) Automatic update
Successful Thursday, July 15, 2004 Security Update for
Windows XP (KB841873) Automatic update
Successful Thursday, July 15, 2004 Security Update for
Windows XP (KB840315) Automatic update
Successful Thursday, July 15, 2004 Update for Background
Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1
(KB842773)

THe solution to the slow email problem in the preview
pane it to go to the Tools Menu and then select options.
Go to the Other pane and disable instant Messaging
