Slow file browsing in Word 2003

I have a user who is having an odd problem in Word 2003. File browsing is
slow, slow enough to irritate her, but not slow enough to generate an actual
error. She's running Office 2003 Professional wqith a complete install on
Windows XP Professionsl. Both are fully patched. She can browse files
easily and quickly from within other applications, it's just slow under Word.
The problem appears to be associated with her profile, since I can log in
and not replicate the problem under my profile. The problem is not isolated
to network browsing only - when she tries to look for files on her local hard
drive there's the same hesitation. I tried deleting her normal.dot, but that
didn't help. I uninstalled and reinstalled Office, which she says made it
faster, but it's still slower than in other apps. I've checked her settings
and there's nothing unusual - teh virus scanner isn't set to scan the
documents, the Outlook Journal feature is off, she has the exact same
settings as the guy in the next office, but she's the only one having this
problem.

I'm not really sure where to start looking here. There appears to be
something in her profile that's messing up Word somehow, but I'm not sure
what tools I can use to try and isolate the problem. Any suggestions would
be appreciated.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.

I checked, and while there are several network drives they are all available
and accessible.
