I'm experiencing some slow/long load times for my Word 2003 documents. All
documents were created, edited and saved on my laptop (Dell Latitude D600).
Whether I use the internal HD (160GB/5400 rpm) or an external USB HD
(160GB/5400 rpm), it takes about 5-7 seconds to load up a document of 2 pages
with just text (colors, 1-2 tables, misc font sizes, no pictures or external
references to other files, no macros etc.). I have noticed that the load
time is not related to what's in memory. I can get the slow load times
immediately after reboot or somewhat later. [When I do run out of memory
with a LOT of apps, the load time does increase. Physical Memory from the
Task Manager: Total: 1.5GB; Available: 115000; System Cache: 263000; CPU
usage: 10%ish; directly connected to office network (no wireless, wireless
turned off)]
1) What causes/can cause this?
2) How do I solve it? Replace Normal.dot or ....?
3) Run Detect and Repair?
All emails with Outlook edit and send fine.
TIA
