The problem looks similar to the problems for
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165 back in April, however that solution
did not work and the problem did not appear until a month after that update.
When one of my co-workers tries to go into open or save documents and clicks
the down arrow next to Look In: to browse the whole computer the system seems
to lock for a couple minutes before showing the system data. If she gets
impatient then the system returns the not responding message. And if she
tried to look in the My Doc's it will lock up each time she tried. Also
after this delay she is no longer able to click the shortcuts on the left to
navigate to My Computer, My Doc, My Network, etc...
