Slow opening of powerpoint files on Mac

I have multiple powerpoints consisting of up to several hundred images
each. There total size typically runs 40 to 80 Mb. For the last year
and a half I have been using Macs for all my other work after using
PC's for years. I recently switched all my Macs to Tiger and have
noticed that all of them are very slow to open my powerpoints. I have
run all the upgrades including 4.2 and removed and reinstalled Office
2004 on all of them including running all of microsofts upgrades. The
Macs consist of two dual 2.5 G-5's and 3 Powerbooks all at least 1.5GHz
in processing speed. By comparison I pulled out a 2 year old Dell
laptop with a 1.7 GHz centrino processor and it will open my largest
file in under 20 seconds. My Macs are taking over 5 minutes and in some
cases longer. This is true for each of the Mac computers. After all the
upgrades, I have run the disk repair program and each has plenty of RAM
and free hard drive space. Prior to switching to Tiger the Macs were
slower than the PC at powerpoint but they seem to have gotten much
slower. Thank you for your help.
